Save energy and money with government rebates
To help homeowners save energy, save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Ontario Government is investing millions of dollars into Home Energy Retrofit Program. The program awards homeowners with rebates of up to $5,000 for home energy improvements. Only through our heating and cooling improvements you can get up to $2900. As of April 1st Federal rebates were ended. It is easy to start. Just follow 5 main stages. STAGE 1. To qualify for rebates, you need first to complete a Home Energy Audit with a certified energy advisor. For your convenience we list the names of certified energy advisors here. You hire one of them and book your first pre-retrofit home energy audit. It usually takes approximately 2 to 3 hours to complete and costs around $300-$350 (later the Government of Ontario will issue a $150 rebate cheque to compensate some cost of pre-audit). Energy Advisor will conduct a detailed evaluation of your home’s energy use and answer all questions pertaining to energy in your home. At the end of the pre-audit you would get a personalized unique Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report with your home’s EnerGuide rating. The rating shows how energy efficient your home is and how efficient it could be with energy-saving improvements in your home for things such as cooling, hot water and insulation all around the house. You would be recommended on how to improve the energy efficiency of your home. FYI: A typical homeowner could save about $1,200 per year on energy bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1-2 tones. STAGE 2. After reading your ecoENERGY report you may choose to do all, some, or none of the recommended energy-saving upgrades. We would be pleased to provide you with more information about programs for upgrading of your old Heating and Cooling equipment to ENERGY STAR EFFCIENT. If you do the rest of renovation don’t forget keeping all receipts, photos and product literature to be sure you get full credit for all improvements. Please keep in mind that after first audit, you have 18 months to make some or all of the upgrades your energy advisor recommends. After completing the work, you come to a third stage of a post-retrofit audit. STAGE 3. When your work is completed, book your post-retrofit audit. The cost of a follow-up ecoENERGY assessment can be around $150. At this stage your energy advisor will perform your audit and provide you with your home’s new EnerGuide rating that shows how much you have improved your home’s energy efficiency. Please keep in mind that a good EnerGuide rating can also increase the resale value of your home (an official EnerGuide label proves you’ve done the work). Your energy advisor will apply for rebates on your behalf after you have completed your energy efficient upgrades and your home has been re-assessed. Your energy advisor will be able to tell you exactly how much you can expect to receive. STAGE 4. After your post-retrofit audit, the Governments of Ontario and STAGE 5. Start living in your Green House enjoying savings of both energy and money. Now your GREEN HOME will be warmer in winter, cooler in summer and won’t need as much energy to stay comfortable. Less energy used the lower energy costs for you. Lower energy used, the less greenhouse gas emitted… the better for the whole our GREEN PLANET! Also at this stage do not forget to apply for tax-free government grants for home renovation, sent directly to you and get up to $1,350 in tax credits from the Canadian government for eligible home renovations including a new furnace, insulation, windows and more.
